I love the water, whether it be swimming in the pool or just soaking in my bath tub, I love it. I even gave birth in the pool, I just can’t get enough of it. It is where I have 'me' time. Even swimming, I can switch off and just let the world float on by... and to think there may be added health benefits to me laying in the bath is just a great bonus (and very good excuse to escape the noisy family life every now and then)
Vegan Bath Products - 4 great health benefits to bathing more frequently.
1. Bathing can improve Heart Health
It is never advised to have a very hot bath, although I do go a little pink myself at times, and especially if you already have a pre-existing heart condition. But taking a warm bath can actually improve your heart health by making it beat faster. This acts as a little work out for your heart and therefore improves its condition, all whilst laying back and relaxing.
2. Bathing can improve your breathing
We all know it’s great to take a warm bath when you have a cold, breathing in the steam but it is also good for us on a day-to-day basis. Submerging your chest under warm water, increasing that heart rate as already mentioned, in turn improves our lung capacity and oxygen intake. An improved lung capacity will not only help with physical abilities today but is also a great indicator of our future health. Our lung capacity as we get older is often an indication of our overall health so try to keep it in good condition.
And whilst laying back and relaxing why not have a beautiful aroma to breath in deeply... Black Oud is a beautifully relaxing, Arabian Oud fragrance, just perfect for laying back and switching off to... or maybe something like Coco Powder, a fresh, clean subtle coco butter, white flowers and musk... We'll have a vegan bath bomb fragrance to suit any occasion...
3. Bathing can improve pain and inflammation
We’ve all heard of hydrotherapy well a bath can help as well... submerging in water helps to reduce the pain and inflammation of joints and muscles, helps your body to repair from trauma or just allowing your muscles to take a well-deserved break from constantly picking up toys, sitting at your desk or laying on the sofa for too long because you couldn’t possibly go to bed without watching the last episode of the series, even though it’s on record!
We have a beautiful collection of Epsom relaxing bath salts to help assist with this issue and they are packed with beautiful relaxing fragrances for that extra luxurious touch. Try to classic Lavender relaxing bath salts or maybe something a little different like May Chang to really refresh and vitalise the senses.
4. Bathing can improve hormone levels
Not that I like the idea of this but some conditions in fact can be benefited by having a colder bath. Chronic fatigue for example or even some fertility issues can be assisted by bathing in colder water. Some hormones released by the pituitary glands can become more balanced using this technique...
Or if you’d prefer to stick to the warm watered baths then you’ll be pleased to hear that a warm bath can increase the levels of serotonin, the happy hormones produced by our brains. Serotonin actually affects our whole body so it is not just a case of this increased hormone level making us feel a little happier but it can also improve our sleeping, eating and digestion.
Why not add in a vegan bath bomb for some added relaxing colours and fragrances to be added to the bath. Or if a bubble bath make you feel comforted and relaxed we have plenty to choose from from the vegan bubble bath scoops pictured below to bars and crumbles in a variety of fragrances for him, her and the children.
A little extra just to seal the deal...
If these points aren’t a good enough reason to sit back and soak more often then how about this to finish... Harvard Medical School actually published in October 2020 that they have carried out a study over a period of 20 years, monitoring more that 30,000 people.
They found (after adjusting their findings for diet, exercise and smoking habits) that compared to those who bathed less than twice a week, those who took baths nearly every day had a 28% lower risk of cardiovascular disease and a 26% lower risk of stroke!! Wow!!
So, there we have it, 4 great health benefits to bathing, closed with some amazing statistics!
