Vegan bath bombs! We love them! And today I'm going to show you how they are made and give you a little insight into the time, love and care that goes into each one!
1. Basic Ingredients
The two main ingredients of our vegan bath bombs are sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. It is the basic chemical reaction between these two products that produces that fizz that we all love from our bath bombs. I will go into this further in another blog (my science background will show its face...) The bigger the bomb the longer the fizz, it is that simple! These are weighed and added by hand...
2. Fragrance
Fragrance, a hugely important step as a smell can evoke memories and feeling and sometimes marrying up the colour and the fragrance can be a bit of a guessing games as we don’t know what effect that may have on you personally...
Our fragrance list is quite extensive so we cover a lot of bases!
We have light florals like Baby Powder, Rose, Lavender and Jasmine with a light base of musk.
Black Oud, your traditional bath salts fragrance of Arabian Oud with Patchouli and Sandlewood.
More fun, exotic fragrances like our sweet Coconut Cream, or our children’s Fruit Salad Sweets.
Not forgetting our luxury perfume inspired fragrances like Black Poppy, a personal favourite of mine, consisting of black coffee, sweet vanilla, white flowers and a base of patchouli... it is divine!
But there are so many to try and they all have the ability to make a you feel different which is great!
3. Colourants
Marrying up with the colourants, we know that colour has a massive effect on how we feel. Blues can be deemed as calm, green relaxing, yellows cheer us up... so picking the right colour or combination of colours for our vegan bath bombs is sometimes easier said than done. Personally, I love a tranquil aquamarine. I want to close my eyes and drift away and imagine I'm sat on a beach and the sea is lapping against my toes! Then open my eyes again and realise I'm in my tub in Suffolk!
4. Moulds
This is a bit of fun! We have a huge array of moulds for our vegan bath bombs from butterflies to dinosaurs, flowers, swirly horns, carousels, the list is quite extensive. This obviously has no effect on the performance of the bomb although some, swirly horns in particular, do spin so you get a little show.
Once the above ingredients are all weighed, added and mixed the mixture is pressed into these moulds by hand making each and every vegan bath bomb completely individual. They are then turned out and left to air dry. No machinery involved, just love, time and care.
5. Hand decoration
Some of our vegan bath bombs have an extra step of hand decoration. They are delicately painted by hand to product something really special. You just can’t get this level of time and care with a big manufacturing plant, this is personal. So, when we then receive great reviews about our vegan bath bombs it really is appreciated and not just another report put on the pile.
So, there we have it. The 5 main steps involved in producing our gorgeous vegan bath bombs for you to enjoy time and time again. I hope this helps give a better understanding the to the time and care that is taken into producing your vegan bath bombs and if you just cannot decide where to start then get in touch using the messaging service normally in the bottom right of the screen. I can easily make you some suggestions on where to start.
